In August 2024, The Standard & Poor’s Global (S&P) upgraded the city’s credit rating, citing efforts by the city’s management, including former Mayor and now Senator Rob Rolison, and current Mayor Yvonne Flowers.

Mayor Flowers said, “The city has great momentum after a period where deficits were greatly hindering our abilities, especially to undertake much-needed capital projects and improve infrastructure,” made easier by reduced interest rates on money borrowed for major projects. “These continued financial improvements will benefit all our residents and businesses in the years to come.”
